Every
deal is unique. There are however, similar themes
that drive our process.
Keep in mind that the key elements that sell a project
are:
1. Quality
of the management team
2. Quality of the business plan
3. Return on investment for the investor
4. Exit strategy for the investor
In
selling your project there is a total package that
is required to convince your funder that your deal
is the best deal in their stack of deals.
Our primary added value to the project team is our
approach to packaging. Your project needs to be packaged
properly to stand out from the rest. This packaging
is mostly assisting the management team in creating
a concise, brief, and clear presentation, with all
the fluff removed. In this age of Internet, binders
and colors are less important than verifiable substance.
Plans and executive summaries in WORD format, or sometimes
PDF, are the packaging systems of our day. Our most
common problem is teaching a management team to stop
the salesmanship and present just the facts. Good
stories are nice, but all investment stories are good
stories. Facts sell deals. Stories don't. See our
guides on the Funding Process page.
Usually we can work with a company in creating the
material in the necessary form. In certain cases,
we will recommend an affiliate company to work with
you in rewriting your plan and proposal. In such cases,
that company will charge an up front fee for the service.
Use of that company or any other company is at your
discretion and we will make it clear if we believe
you need that step and will not proceed until it is
complete. We achieve no income from any such referrals.
Once we have the package in an acceptable form, we
will offer you an engagement agreement that states
that if we find funding for your project, we will
be compensated.
When that agreement is executed, we contact our sources.
A no can occur very quickly. We will
have all the no answers within a few
weeks. The yes takes longer. Generally,
we will know within a few weeks if we can move your
project forward. If we can't, we part company and
wish you well. If we can, we stay with you through
to the end.
